Dignified Menstruation Day 2019

  Radha Paudel Foundation and its partners organized a series of following activities in various parts of Nepal and beyond during the previous course of 16 days activism.:

  1. Speech delivered during the program of Ministry of Women, Children and Senior Citizen of 16days Activism at National City hall, Kathmandu in front of Vice- Prime Minister, and distinguished delegates from the government of Nepal and CSOs. Demanded to endorse Dec 8 as a dignified menstrual day in Nepal as well as lobbying to endorse by the UN. Also demanded to take forward the draft policy on dignified menstruation which is pending for last years to endorse by the cabinet (Hon. Minister Prabat Gurung, Ministry of Women, Children and Senior Citizen promised to take responsibility for it).
  2. A group of organizations gathered in Maithighar Mandela, a heart of Capital city, and celebrated Dec 8 as Dignified Menstruation for ending all forms of Gender-based violence and ensuring human rights. Recited poems, blowing the bunch of balloons.
  3. December 8 or dignified menstruation day marked in 14 districts (Saptari, Sarlahi, Dharan, Bara, Chitwan, Nawalpur, Baglung, Kathmandu, Kavrepalanchock, Sindupalanchock, Dolakha, Dailekh, Jumla, Bajura, from 6 provinces by doing interaction programs, human chain, blood donation, school program, art, painting, signature campaign, rally, speeches, speaking over media- TV, radio, online, print and social media.
  4. In aboard, members of Global South Coalition who are from Uganda, Indonesia, Australia, and the USA were also marked by using social media, exhibition, talk, sharing the info in programs, mobilizations of youths, etc.

International Workshop On Dignified Menstruation
8th December 2020

Dignified Menstruation (DM) is the holistic approach to revisit ourselves for prevention of SGBV, improving SRHR, leaving no one behind and promotion of human right. Therefore, rigorous discussion requires to revisit our policies, plans and activities across the globe because menstruation is complex and multifaceted issue. This conference aims to brings all stakeholders from across the globe and build common understanding on DM for movement building all around the globe. It is also a building on of the outcome of International Conference on DM amid COVID-19, Pandemic (virtual). Date: 8-10 December 2020 Objectives: To understand the menstruation through the perspective of power construction, analyse the impacts of power on various aspect of the menstruators and their surrounding throughout the life and magnify the campaign on dignity during menstruation at all level and sectors.
